Why Possessions Won't Make You Happy

Why Possessions Won't Make You Happy How to feed your soul and get eternal satisfaction Written by Bro shalamon Anushanthan on 13/02/2018 Tags:  Purpose ,  Vanity ,  Soul For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul? Matthew 16:26 Every time I read this verse, it makes my heart ache for people who I know that seem to have lost their way in life. It is like they start to go somewhere, but when they get on the road, they realize that they have no idea where they are or how to get to where they want to go. “Daddy, I think we are lost.  What do we do?” After my daughter was married, she and her husband were going on their honeymoon, but early on they realized that they had gotten lost. Unfortunately, they had missed a very critical turn and were headed in the opposite direction of where they should have been going. She called me, explained her dilemma and asked me wha...

The Baptism In The Holy Spirit

Image
Here is a question that may puzzle some Christians. If Jesus was  born  by the power of the Holy Spirit, then why did the Holy Spirit have to come upon Him when He was baptized? Are there two kinds of interactions with the Holy Spirit for Christians as well? It is important that we recognize the need for the baptism (immersion) in the Holy Spirit to live a life of increasing purity. This is the only way that we can increasingly reflect Jesus in His purity. But there is an  equally important need  for the baptism in the Holy Spirit for our service to God that many do not recognize. The Holy Spirit must give us His supernatural gifts if we are to fulfil our calling as members of the Body of Christ. Some churches identify spiritual gifts by getting their members to take some sort of Christianized personality test. These tests identify spiritual gifts based on the strengths of various personality types. Now personality tests can help understand human strengths and wea...

Your Decisions Determine What You Become

"I came down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me"  ( Jn . 6:38 ). Jesus tells us here in His own words what He came on earth to do. And in this one sentence we have a description of how Jesus lived every single day of His entire life on earth. The thirty years of Jesus' life in Nazareth are referred to as hidden years. But here Jesus reveals what He did during every day of those 30 years: He denied His own will and did His Father's will. When Jesus was with the Father in heaven from eternity past, He never had to deny His own will, for His own will was the same as His Father's. But when He came to earth in our flesh, that flesh had a self-will that was diametrically opposed to the Father's will at every single point. The only way in which Jesus could do the Father's will then was by denying His own self-will all the time. This was the cross that Jesus bore throughout His earthly life - the crucifixion of His self-will - a...

Principles Of Serving God

When we see the state of things around us, and encounter problems for which we do not have, a solution, it is good to hear the Lord saying to us,  "Come up higher! Come and see things from My standpoint - and not from the low earthly level from which you have been looking at these things" . This is a word that we need to hear constantly -  "Come up higher!" God needs men today, who will stand before His face and hear His voice daily; men who have no desire in their heart for anyone or anything other than God Himself; men who have the discernment of the Spirit to distinguish between the soulish and the spiritual authority; men who will stand alone for God in the world, if need be;  totally uncompromising men, like the apostles and prophets of old . I'd like to turn to the Word of God in  Revelation Chapter 4 . After the Lord had given John a revelation of Himself in  Chapter 1 , He gave John an insight into the actual state of many of the churches in that part...

True Christians In The Workplace

" Can one be on fire for God and still have a secular job? Or has the Lord called only full-time Christian workers?" "Do you know that all Christians are called to be leaders and shepherds?" Answers to these and other similar questions are given here (from "hands-on" experience) by Sanjay Poonen - an MBA topper from Harvard Business School and currently a senior executive in a large software company. Or has the Lord called only full-time Christian workers? Can you have a career at a corporate job? What do you do when the Lord first gives you your first paycheck?Do you know that all Christians are called to be leaders and shepherds? Is your life a compartmentalized spiritual vs. professional life? Are you a friend of Christ on Sunday, and a friend of the world the rest of the week? A Good Foundation

Image
The gospel is the good news that man can now live as God originally intended him to. The one who surrenders totally to the claims of Christ can live a life of constant triumph. Yet many who have accepted Christ as their Saviour do not enter into this glorious life that the gospel offers. Why not? The reason very often is that a good foundation was not laid at the beginning of their Christian life. Our life after we are born again can be compared to a house being built. We all know that the most important part of a house is its foundation. If there is a crack on the third floor, the cause can usually be traced to a faulty foundation. It is the same with our lives. Years after we have trusted in Christ, we can suffer the consequences of a faulty foundation laid at the beginning. The New Testament promises us a life of triumph over sin. See God's promise in  Romans 6:14 : Sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law, but under grace. It also commands us to live ...
